Activity 1 - Thoughts After Viewing Pattie Mae’s Talk on TED

Wow! I want one now-regardless of the aesthetics of the current version!

Firstly, I must make mention of Pattie Mae’s public speaking skills. Her ability to reveal the details on this device, bit by bit, drew me, and obviously the physical audience also, in. She reminded me somewhat of Steve Jobs introducing new Apple products.  I wanted to know more and was impressed by each new revelation-especially the ability to use your hand as a surface.

Designers of interactive media are recognising the community’s desire to have information and recommendations available quickly and effortlessly. Pattie Mae’s ‘SixthSense’ device’s ability to interact with the real world and the world of data seems to be setting the standard for the future designers.

  1. Hi Simone,

I agree, the standard has quickly been raised with a device such as this - it's making the ipad2 look outdated! I am looking forward to seeing what the final product can do.

  2. Interesting that people are picking up on her ability as a speaker... she is quite good. I think the TED speakers are generally pretty compelling. One of the comments brought up in Andrew's blog, http://tinyurl.com/3bu5vbq, was the idea of filtering some of this information. Check out what he's on about...
